Display Energy Certificate
As of Jan 1st 2009 all non-domestic buildings being constructed, rented or sold will require a Building Energy Rating Certificate
which is based on the building's potential energy performance assuming standard occupancy. Public Buildings are dealt with slightly differently. These buildings
require a Display Energy Certificate(DEC) which is based on the operational performance of
the building as recorded by meter readings.
The metered performance is then compared to benchmark data for school energy use. This benchmark figure is adjusted for location, hours of use and period of measurement and subsequently converted to primary energy figures. The ratio of the primary energy required by the school to the primary energy required by this benchmark building is the source of the DEC rating.
The Department of Education and Skills has commissioned this website to enable schools to input their energy use details online and subsequently provide the schools with a time-efficient way of generating their Display Energy Certificates.
This website generates draft versions of the DEC. The data input by the school will be automatically forwarded to SEI to be included on the national register of Building Energy Certificates. Once SEI have validated the input data they shall issue the school with an official DEC to be displayed publicly within the school.
Please allow 5 weeks from the time of recieving your provisional certificate on this web site to the receipt of an official certificate. In the event that the certificate does not arrive within this period contact SEI using the details in the Contact Us link to the left of the window.
The certificates generated by this site will only be valid for buildings which continue to be used exclusively as school buildings. Any change in ownership will require the building to be re-certified under the NEAP methodology for non-domestic buildings. For more information on this see the relevant SEI link on the Contacts page.
