FAQ 1 - How do I know what information is required in each section?

The information required on each scheme is identified through the links available on the energyeducation.ie home page. Within each application form there are help files to assist you to enter the correct information in each section.

FAQ 2 - What is a Display Energy Certificate?

A Display Energy Certificate or DEC is the title given to the Building Energy Rating of a Large Public Building. The DEC is a ratio based on actual measured energy consumption in comparison to standard energy use for a building of that type. Unlike the BER for other buildings a DEC for Public Buildings does not have an associated advisory report.

The Department of Education and Science has developed the online self-certification form so that schools can be provided with a DEC free of charge and concurrently generate an advice sheet based on their current energy management techniques. This allows schools to rate their energy management techniques and learn how to adjust their behaviour to produce real savings in energy consumption.
